My Birthday Wish
I woke up this morning in hopes that yesterday wasn't real. That it was all a nightmare. But I could feel my eyes still damp with the tears that wouldn't stop and knew that was not the case.
Before yesterday when people would ask me where I lived, and I answered "Newtown, Connecticut", they'd follow up with "Where is that?" Now everyone knows where Newtown is. And for all the wrong reasons. I wish that weren't the reality.
I wish that there weren't 27 new angels in heaven.
I wish that these innocent children & educators did not die in vain.
I wish that there is real change in this world as a result of yesterday's events.
I wish that we come to live in a world where we do not fear going to school, or the movies, or the mall, or our place of worship.
I wish that no more innocent children have to die before we address the real issues. Not just gun control, but also getting help for those who need it before they take such drastic action.
These are my birthday wishes as I blow out my candles today.
I pray for the victim's families as they grieve for their loved ones. I hope that they can feel the prayers of everyone in this town, this state, the nation and the world.

I wish that I did not hear the constant buzz of news helicopters overhead.
I wish that The Today Show, Good Morning America, and the CBS Early Show weren't broadcasting 4 miles from my house. Or that if they were it was for something happy.
I wish that there weren't 27 new angels in heaven.

Take comfort in the fact that there are SO many good people out there that feel exactly the way that you do! Wishing you a very happy birthday. Find something that makes you smile today. You deserve that! Have a good day!
